  • The hire rate of an outdoor table is $ 22, an outdoor chair is $ 15 each.
  • Outback Safety Kit: available for hire with 4WD vehicles for remote four wheel drive safety. The Kit Contains: Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) - when activated the beacon transmits an emergency distress signal, which can be detected by Australian rescue authorities. Snatch Strap - used to pull a vehicle from a bogged position (with the aid of another vehicle), in conjunction with the D-shackles, which secure the snatch strap to a rigid anchor point. Plus an folding spade: costs $95.
    An Outback Safety Kit is included in the Bonus Pack.
  • A satellite phone offer coverage in all areas of the Outback. ($ 18 per day + call costs)
  • Fan heater: this item is handy in a 4WD, which do not feature heating in the rear area.
  • GPS: $ 9 per day with a maximum rate of $ 90.

Locations: rentals from/to 10 locations Australia wide: Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

One way rentals: available for an extra fee. $250: Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. $350: Darwin, Broome*, Alice Springs and Perth. The one way fee is included in the Bonus Pack. Rentals to Hobart always on request only.


* An additional fee of $650 applies to all rentals picking up and dropping off in Broome. E.g. a Darwin to Broome one way rental would incur a total one way fee of $1000.


Drivers age: drivers must be 21 years of age or over. For drivers 75 years of age or over, a medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive for the duration of the hire is required upon vehicle collection.


Booster seat: a booster seat (child minimum 4 years of age) needs to be strapped in the front passenger seat with the diagonal lap-sash seatbelt by law.

Excess: the standard excess is $7500. The hirer is responsible for the cost of damage to the Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including all single vehicle accidents, windscreen and tyre damage, towing or recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. The bond is $7500, only payable by credit card at pick up of the vehicle.

The excess can be reduced by the purchase of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Option 2.

Excess Reduction Option 1
cost per day: 4WD $30 (maximum charge $1500) reduces the excess to $3500. The bond is $3500 as well, only payable by credit card at pick up of the vehicle.

Excess Reduction Option 2
cost per day: 4WD $49 (maximum charge $2450) reduces the excess to $500. The bond is $500 as well, payable by credit card at pick up of the vehicle.

Easy Cover Option
The 4WD Easy Cover Option extends the cover available with Liability Reduction 2 or the Bonus Pack for 4WD's to include a NIL excess, cover for accidental damage to the overhead and underbody sections of the 4WD vehicle (this does not include single vehicle roll-over), unlimited tyre and windscreen cover and towing and vehicle recovery costs in the event towing and vehicle recovery is required from 4WD roads where permission from Britz is required to travel in advance (see the road restrictions section below) Clients requiring vehicle towing and vehicle recovery from a road listed within this section will be responsible for up to $7500 for towing and vehicle recovery in the event of not having this cover irrespective of the Liability Reduction Cover Option or Bonus Pack the customer may have.

Tyre & windscreen damage Where a nil excess is present, unlimited windscreen and tyres will be covered for accidental damage.

All in Bonus Pack: available for a rate of $72 per day in addition to the daily hire rate. (maximum $3600 per rental) The bond of $500 is taken as an imprint on your card.

Road restrictions


Challengers may only travel to the following areas with the permission of Britz: Tanami Road, Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York, Purnululu NP, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Plenty Highway and Gibb River Road. Permission is granted at the time of travel based on the current road and weather conditions.

NOTE: the Simpson Desert will be closed from 1 December to 15 March!

Vehicles are NOT permitted to travel on the Canning Stock Route, the Lost City in Litchfield Park, to Cape York between 01 December and 31 May and the Old Telegraph Road sections of the road to Cape York.
