Backpacker Off Roader

This model bushcamper is a great alternative for the budget-minded traveller. An Off Roader can be rented from any main city in Australia. It seats and sleeps a maximum of 3 people. Two adults and one child is the preferred combination, due to space restrictions. A child seat cannot be fitted in this model. This 4WD vehicle is 4 or 5 years old and the measures and the interior are the same as in a Britz bushcamper.

Road restrictions: Off Roaders are NOT permitted to travel to the following areas: Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, the Old Gunbarrel Hwy, Cape York, the Bungle Bungles, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track, the Plenty Highway, the Burke Development Road from Chillagoe to Normanton and Savannah Way from Normanton to Borroloola, Fraser Island, Finke Road (between Alice Springs and Oodnadatta), Central Arnhem Road, Arnhem Land in general, Gibb River Road, Canning Stock Route, the Lost City in Litchfield Park, Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park) and the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke.

  • The rental rate of an outdoor table is $22, outdoor chair $15 each.
     
  • Outback Safety Kit: $95.00, available for hire with 4WD vehicles for remote four wheel drive safety. The Kit Contains: Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) - when activated the beacon transmits an emergency distress signal, which can be detected by Australian rescue authorities. Snatch Strap - used to pull a vehicle from a bogged position (with the aid of another vehicle), in conjunction with the D-shackles, which secure the snatch strap to a rigid anchor point plus a folding spade.
     
  • A satellite phone offer coverage in all areas of the Outback. ($18 per day)

Locations: rentals from/to 8 locations Australia wide: Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

One way rentals: available for $250 or $350, not possible to Hobart, Tasmania and to Broome.

Excess reduction: The standard excess is $5000. The hirer is responsible for the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, single vehicle accident, wind-screen and tyre damage, towing or recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism.

The excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of Excess Reduction
Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2.

Excess Reduction Option 1
cost per day: $25 (max. charge $1250) reduces the excess to $2500.

Excess Reduction Option 2
cost per day: $38 (max. charge $1900) reduces the excess to NIL.

Smart Pack (all inclusive package, $49 per day)
This is available at an additional cost to the daily rental vehicle rate. The Pack includes:
  • Excess Reduction Option 2 (nil excess)
  • Tyre (2x) and windscreen (1x) cover.
  • Government Stamp Duty Tax
  • Extra driver fee
  • Linen and bedding pack.
  • LP Gas Refill (PGO - refill for gas bottle used for cooking and heating hot water in vehicles with a hot water facility upon return of vehicle).
