Wicked Classic Outback Camper

The Wicked Classic Outback camper is the ideal vehicle if you wish to travel on a budget and still want to
see most of the Australian mainland. Even closer to the Pacific Coast are lots of scenic spots that are only accessible via unsealed roads and therefore only by 4x4. You can go wherever you like as long as you go on recognized roads and make sure that the vehicle does not get in contact with salt water, so no driving on beaches and on Fraser and/or Moreton Islands and 75-mile beach!

There will be heaps of beatiful places/National Parks left that you can go and visit by 4x4. To name a few: Carnarvon, Flinders Ranges, Deua, Mount Kaputar, Border Ranges, Ben Boyd, Kroombit Tops, Bundjalung, Mungo, Border Ranges, Croajingolong, Wollemi, etc.

Outback Campers are permitted on unsealed roads excluding the prohibited areas: 1) Central West Australia bounded by the Great Northern, Eyre and Stuart Highways. 2) Central Eastern Australia bounded by the Stuart, Barrier, Mitchell, Landsborough & Barkley Highways. 3) Cape York north of Cooktown, the Carpentaria Coast and Arnem Land bounded by the Barkley & Stuart Hiways. 4) The Kimberley bounded the Great Northern Highway. 5) Cape Leveque, the Bungle Bungles and the Lost City in Litchfield National Park. 6) Any beach, sand or island. 7) Wicked Campers travelling into the Purnululu National Park will incur a fee of $150.00

Certain areas have been designated as special 4WD zones and require an additional fee. These areas are season and are prohibited unless authorised by Wicked in writing and the 4WD fee is paid. They are:

- Gibb River Road, April to October only. The extra fee is $700.00
- Coastal Route to Cooktown (Bloomfield Track), April to October only
- Kings Canyon loop (also called Mereenie Loop Road), all year. The extra fee is $200.00

FEATURES: Mitsubishi Delica, 2500cc diesel motor, 5 speed automatic transmission, power steering, airconditioning in driver cabin, AM/FM radio-CD player, 70 litre fuel tank, fuel consumption 14 litres per 100km, 2 or 3 seats with seat belts in the front.

All campervans have automatic transmission, which makes them the perfect budget vehicle. A Delica come with power steering, CD player and air conditioning in the cabin.

Some have a sunroof, but we give no guarantees that you'll get one that does. All vehicles run on Diesel fuel.

The average Wicked 4x4 campervan is between 6 and 10 years old.

Locations: rentals from/to 14 locations Australia wide: Adelaide, Airlie Beach, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome, Byron Bay, Cairns, Darwin, Exmouth, Hervey Bay, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

One way fees: the one way fees are: from $100 to $400, depended on the route. (excluding Outback fee)

Drivers: the drivers are required to have had a full drivers licence for at least 2 years.
The minimum driver age for a Wicked 4WD is 21.

Note: if attempting Tasmania the minimum hire period is 10 days. Alice Springs local hires cost $15 per day extra. Local hires out of Broome are not allowed. (from and to Broome)

If you travel more than 300 km from the coastline then an extended area fee of $10 per day (Outback fee) will apply to the hire, capped at $300.

If the rental is returning to the original pickup depot, we will require the route that the customer is taking. Local hires are treated differently to longer journeys.

Multiple hires are possible. E.g: 2 weeks from Cairns to Brisbane and 3 weeks from Sydney to Adelaide will be charged as a 5 week rate.

Rates include: * Unlimited kilometres * 24 hour Roadside Assistance * Free Safety Checks during the trip * No charge for minor dints and scratches * No charge for small windscreen chips * CD Player.


An additional 2.5% fee (Stamp Duty Tax) will be added to the total rental charge to cover state government fees, duties and associated costs.


Wicked accepts payment via Visa & Mastercard, which attract a bank surcharge of 1.5%

Damage Cover
Damage Cover is available for an additional $20 per day. There is a liability of $2000 for multiple vehicles accidents. It's possible to reduce the excess to $1 for an extra $35 per day.

Security bond
A bond as per the above table is required at time of collection. Cash or credit card is required. Additional appropriate ID will need to be supplied for cash bonds. An administration fee equal to the merchant service fee will apply. If campervan and extra equipment are in an acceptable condition upon return to the contracted depot, bonds will be returned via our accounts department (please note: this may take up to seven days to be processed), unless the vehicle has been in or reported to have been in an accident.
